Group counseling provides a reality mirror and an opportunity for treatment participants to work through issues common to addiction. Psychological defenses such as denial, deflection, justification, and rationalization dissipate via honest reflection of self while sharing or hearing from other participates doing the same. Our group facilitators are trained to assist in building group support and encouraging feedback.
Group members are rewarded for sharing difficult subject matter regarding their addiction, and the damage it has cause themselves and others in their lives. This promotes trust and unity which translates into an addict no longer feeling terminally unique, but thankful for their sobriety and the opportunity for new beginnings.
